The blue peacock was domesticated in India more than twenty centuries ago and is part of the fauna of numerous parks and gardens around the world.
The male is really impressive, because it has a very bright electric blue body, and a tail formed by 150 feathers that can measure more than two meters each, and that have, at different heights, an iridescent ocellus. With these feathers raised forming a spectacular fan, the male moves slowly back towards his possible companion and then turns around to finish impressing her. As if that were not enough, a curious crest of blue feathers lined up appears on his head.
On the contrary, the females present a cryptic coloration, brown with white splashes, although in the neck they have some very striking blue splashes.
They have a wide range of vocalizations, not always related to courtship.
