The Egyptian goose has a long neck, long pink legs, a pink beak and brown patches that surround each eye. It is distinguished from closely related species by a brown patch in the middle of the chest.
The upper wings and the head are brown, while the rest of the body is light brown. The lower part of the wings is white and green. The juveniles lack the brown patches on the chest.
It measures between 63 and 73 cm high, its weight ranges between 1.5 to 2.3 kgs. and it is 38 cm in span (measured from tip to tip of the wings). The height is between 63 and 73 cm and can weigh from 1.5 to 2.3 kg. The wingspan is quite large, measuring 38 cm, on average.
The females are smaller than the males, but otherwise, both sexes are similar. One way to differentiate them is by their sound. The males make a harsh whistle, while the females make a cackling sound. Although they are not very vocal, when they feel assaulted or stressed they will make a lot of noise.
