Fish Catfish

  • Siluforme

This fish, recognized worldwide for its emblematic whiskers, has the property of living both in the water and in the sea, and is precisely its main characteristic, which makes the catfish an excellent opportunistic hunter.

This fish owes its name of catfish or Catfish in English, due to its whiskers, or tentacles that extend from its upper jaw; and in some species they also show these chins in the lower jaw, which is very similar to a cat.

The catfish also have dorsal and pectoral fins, which in most cases have a series of pointed spines, which they usually use as a defense mechanism against their predators, and hunters; and in some occasions, these thorns can be poisonous, which is even more harmful for the human being.
