This species is the most colorful of all, since its feathers and legs are of intense pink color, and when unfolding its wings they emphasize in their ends feathers of black color, they must this coloration to their food that is based on red, green algae blue, diatoms, larvae and pupae of insects and crustaceans, that is, very small organisms found in water. They trap them as they filter the water with their beaks.
