The lion (Panthera leo) is a carnivorous mammal of the family of the felidae and one of the five species of the genus Panthera.
The lion is the largest living felid next to the tiger. With strong limbs, a strong jaw and eight-centimeter canine teeth, the lion can kill large prey.Lions coloration ranges from light beige to yellowish brown, reddish or dark ocher. The lower parts are usually lighter and the hair at the end of the tail is black. The baby lion have a stained pattern that is lost with age, although sometimes it can be seen in the legs and belly, especially of the lionesses.
The lions are the only felids that present a sexual dimorphism in the adult stage. The males possess a dense mane of which the females lack. The color of the mane goes from blond to black and usually gets darker as the lion ages.
