Main features:

 

• Has a kind of shriek or particular call for different situations. Generally a male makes sounds followed in a single way in repeated sequences

 

• Unlike farm chickens, this bird has a long, thick, strong beak that starts from its nostrils.

 

• Its head is devoid of feathers and has flesh that stands out in the beak area.

 

• They are gray and black with some white dots, their plumage is abundant which makes them look robust or thick. They are social birds and form flocks.

Reproduction:

• Sexual.

• They reach sexual maturity at the second year of age. The breeding season is between July and August. It is a monogamous species, although in captivity there may be some polygamy.

Feeding:

• Omnivorous and varied species

• Ingests seeds, fruits, snails, earthworms, insects, and insect larvae from the soil.

Distribution:

• It is a native bird of Africa in countries such as: Angola, Cameroon, Congo, Ethiopia, Ghana, Guinea, Nigeria, South Africa and Zimbabwe.
